Drakensberg Primêr het op Vrydag, 24 Januarie die rugby, seuns- en dogters hokkie en netbal se eerste spanne vir 2020 bekendgestel. Baie sterkte vir die jaar wat voorlê.

On Friday, 24 January, Drakensberg Primary announced the first teams for rugby, netball and boys and girls hockey for 2020. Good luck for the year ahead.

Drakies Mandela Day 2019

Drakies Celebrate Mandela Day

On Thursday 18 July 2019 Drakensberg Primary School celebrated Mandela Day with a charity drive. The learners raided their piggy banks and brought all their change to school. The money collected will be used to provide in the specific needs of NPO’s in Newcastle. We would like to thank each parent for their support in this project.

Our community service group celebrated Mandela Day by refurbishing the bridge near our school. And our support staff cleaned up the sidewalk. Well done guys, we are extremely proud of you.

Totsiens Mev. van der Merwe

Op Dinsdag 27 Maart 2018 het Drakensberg Primere Skool vir Mevrou Carlien van der Merwe gegroet. Sy was aan die skool verbonde vanaf 1985 tot en met 2018. Sy het ‘n reuse verskil in baie kinders se lewe gemaak en het nog meer kinders leer lees en skryf. Sy laat groot skoene om te vul. Ons wens haar alle sterkte toe en weet sy sal die rus geniet.

On Tuesday the 27th of March 2018 Drakensberg Primary School said goodbye to Mrs. Carlien van der Merwe. Sy was involved at Drakies from 1985 to 2018. She made a difference in the lives of many learners by teaching them to read and write. She leaves big shoes to fill and we will surely miss her. We wish her all the best and hope that she enjoys the rest.

Netball Tour 2018

Drakies were fortunate to attend Sportismo’s netbal Clinic in March 2018. The Clinic was hosted by Dr. Elsje Jordaan, who coaches the Protea Netball team. She also brought along some of her Protea players as well as Provincial players she has coached.
Die meisies het baie nuwe vaardighede aangeleer en ons is trots om te sien dat hulle dit in wedstryde toepas.
A big thanks to Mr. Hanekom for allowing the girls and coaches to attend this awesome weekend.
Thanks to all the parents who trusted us with your child.
Baie dankie vir elke afrigter wat hulle tyd opgeoffer het, dit was egter elke oomblik werd.

Winter Festival 2018
On Friday the 27th of April 2018 Drakies dancegroups gave an entertaining performance in the Show Ground’s Arena. We would like to thank the organisers for inviting our girls to take part.

HipHop girls
All I can say is Salute to you ladies. These dynamic dancers practice and choreograph their own moves during culture period.

PomPom poppies
The grade one and two dancers are called the PomPoms because of their huge red and blue pompoms, and they enjoy every opportunity to shake them.

Dancepoppies
The Pre-Primary girls were coached by Mrs. June Burger and Mrs. Yolande Boshoff. They made “Hey Mickey” hip and happening again. Well done, girls. Keep on dancing.
